Postcard From Belem

Belem turns 396 today. The city, in Brazil's northeast, is home to 2.3 million residents spread across the metro area and 39 islands. Belem is the capital city of Brazil's north region and is at the entrance to the Amazon River.
In other news:
- Twins with one body and two heads were born in a local hospital.
- A local boxer breathed new life into his career with one fantastically executed (and concussion-producing) knock out punch.
- And a bit of history - in 1952, a helicopter attempted a daring air search of Belem's Amazonian countryside after a plane carrying 19 Americans crashed into a hillside.
