Postcard From Flint

In Flint:

  • Brides-to-be clawed their way through a layer cake in search of prizes that included a honeymoon to Mexico and a diamond necklace.
  • A church opened a tattoo parlor inside of its doors, just down the hall from the head minister.
  • The ex-wife of Amir Hekmati, the man who was sentenced to death in Iran for allegedly being a spy, is a Flint resident. According to her, Hekmati was a "very pleasant" man.
  • Flint and Genesee County consider whether to combine some services - like the detective bureau and crime lab, the parks maintenance system and a fire authority - to save money.
