Postcard From Colombo
In Colombo, Sri Lanka, Buddhist monks gathered to pray for the defeat of a U.N. resolution. They were joined by thousands of others gathered outside the British Embassy urging Britain to defeat the measure, holding placards read, "UK, don't support terrorism. Be friendly to Sri Lanka."
The resolution calls on Sri Lanka to prosecute soldiers guilty of misconduct in the final phases of the war against the Tamil Tiger rebels. Government officials say the American-backed resolution interferes with the country's internal affairs.
