Times Square Becomes the City's Largest Yoga Studio
New York's Times Square was filled with 14,000 yogis yesterday, during the 10th annual Mind Over Madness. According to the Village Voice:
The yoga-thon is in celebration of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Yoga practitioners both novice and advanced participate in a series of classes from sunrise to sunset.
"We created this event not only to celebrate the solstice, but also to bring a sense of stillness to our crazy city," event co-founder Tim Tompkins said at the event. "If you can remain calm and focused while doing yoga in the middle of Times Square then you can do it anywhere."
