A Drone's-Eye View of Detroit
What happens when you take two controversial subjects – drones and photography of Detroit's ruins – and put them together? This:
This sweeping drone flight captures some of the beauty and devastation of Detroit, from Michigan Central Station (the default icon of Detroit's decline) to burned out and decaying homes to the detached serenity of Belle Isle Park.
It's a beautiful and unusually intimate look at the city. The footage was captured by YouTube user Tretch5000 who, according to a comment posted on the video a few weeks ago, hadn't even intended for it to be seen by the public. The video was first noticed by Deadline Detroit (as well as a few other places), and is still up, so take a look.
