Thousands of Gandhis March Through India's Streets
It's Gandhi's 143rd birthday today, and celebrations abound. Forbes has a list of notable quotes; many of the country's Gandhi statues have been decked out in beautiful floral necklaces. Bollywood wished the former leader 'Happy Birthday' by tweet. A pizza chain in Denver with a vague focus on social justice is even giving out free pies.
For India's school children, the party is more personal. Thousands of kids across the country donned bald caps, wire-rimmed glasses and robes to participate in marches. Here are a couple of photos, by Amit Dave of Reuters.
