'Drivelapse' of the Day: Route 66 in 3 Minutes
This summer, in addition to driving a lot of other places, Brian DeFrees drove along old Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles (more than 2,000 miles all told). On the way, he trucked through eight states, a handful of cities -- St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Amarillo -- and small towns like Winslow, Arizona.
He took photos the whole way, and blended them into a "drivelapse" video that takes the viewer along Route 66 in three and a half minutes.
DeFrees was inspired to drive the old road in part by the movie Cars, which was in turn inspired by Gallena, Kansas (another place DeFrees drove through). As one car says to another in that film, "It's kinda nice to slow down every once in a while."
The description of his trip is here. The drivelapse is below. Check the bottom left corner to watch the states go by.
