Transforming Cities Into Snow Globes
London's Big Ben and other iconic cityscapes seem tiny when filmed through the glass bubble of a snow globe. Using a custom setup, filmmakers at All Cut Up Films and Evoke Solutions spent two weeks traveling to six locations to make the video -- outtakes from a "holiday card" project for a client. The clever snow-globe effect relies on a blend of time-lapse and macro photography and gets a festive look from custom bokeh shapes. For a previous shoot in Los Angeles, All Cut Up's Colin Mika revealed that the globe itself was actually a light bulb filled with water.
