This Interactive Map Highlights San Francisco's Literary Landmarks

With irresistible natural beauty and a vibrant culture, San Francisco has inspired legions of writers, from Mark Twain to Maya Angelou, Jack London to Jack Kerouac.

In 2009, the San Francisco’s Chronicle unveiled "The Literary City," an illustrated map of literary quotes about the City by the Bay. It has since become a popular poster.

Today, the Chronicle launched a new, interactive version, mapping booksellers, literary landmarks, and 300 authors who live in the Bay Area.

In the screenshots below, check out some of the Bay Area spots that have made their way into great books.
