Gift of the Day: A Wall-Mounted Street Grid
So...you got her the quilt, the kayak and the can of air from Prague, but with Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year just around the corner, you're out of ideas.
Look no further than Dan Linden, the fellow behind CutMaps, who has taken his talents to walnut. For a thousand bucks, Linden will turn his lasers on a street grid of your choice, producing a bespoke "Walnut Wall Piece" carving measuring 60 by 45 inches. Above, Linden's take on Pittsburgh.
If it's a smaller occasion, you can settle for one of his maps cut (with lasers) from mounting board. Or, you can get cozy with that special someone and just watch this video of Linden slicing out a map of San Francisco.
