The Latest Pictures of London's Race to the Olympics

Monday marked the beginning of London's true Olympics travel rush, with the volume of passengers making their way through the U.K.'s airports and public transit systems, not to mention traveling along its highways, nearing its peak.

Cities London correspondent Feargus O'Sullivan summed up the first day of commuting chaos, which included reports of a 32-mile traffic jam, Heathrow's busiest day ever, and athletes being lost for 4 hours on their way to Olympic Village.

Olympic Park itself however, is not in the same state of stress (yet). These facilities are instead getting their final touch-ups as athletes start to arrive. 

Via Reuters, a closer look at London over the last few days, as the 2012 Summer Games begins to make its presence known:
